Europe's best young western riders come to Denmark: 2nd European Youth Cup in Vilhelmsborg (DEN) July 20 – 22, 2007
The second FEQHA European Youth Cup is scheduled for July 20 to 22, 2007 at the Vilhelmsborg Nationale Ridesportscenter, Bedervej 101, 8320 Maarslet, Denmark. This team competition for the best youth riders of Europe is organied by the Federation of European Quarter Horse Associations (FEQHA) in cooperation with the Danish Quarter Horse Association, the showmanager being once more Marcel Vangenechten (BEL).
The event is open to all European Quarter Horse Asssociations that are AQHA affiliates and FEQHA members plus Israel. Each nation sends a team consisting of at least three and at most five members. The number of horses corresponds to the number of team members plus one substitute horse. The nations can also send two additional individual riders whose results will only count for individual ranking.
The teams must compete in eight disciplines: Trail, Reining, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter under Saddle and Showmanship, with three riders of each team having to compete in each discipline (exception: Western Riding and Reining with only two competitors per team). Nations not able to get together a team may send individual riders whose results will count for individual ranking. The Cup Champion will be the team which won most points in all disciplines together.
First European Youth Cup a big success The FEQHA organized their first European Youth Cup in 2005 at the beautiful HorseAcademy facility at Mooslargue (FRA). Eight nations sent their teams then, the winner being Switzerland. Germany won the silver medal with only a few points behind Switzerland. Belgium got the bronze medal. The event is designed to test the versatility of the young riders and their team spirit. It was really impressing to see how the individuals melted into real teams helping and supporting each other wherever they could. Also the good relationship among the various nations was remarkable to experience. Besides great sport on European Championship level, this was the greatest achievement of the FEQHA European Youth Cup which follows the ideals of the AQHA Youth World Cup. The event does not focus on sport but on bringing together young people with one common passion: the great American Quarter Horse.
