Swedish Quarter Horse Association: April Show Domare's hemsida

The trip to Sweden was a great opportunity for Sherrye as she judged the Swedish Quarter Horse Association Horse Show at Grevagarden in Skovde. This was the SQHA spring show with over 400 entries and attracted a large attendance of spectators and exhibitors from all over Sweden. All of the events were held in a beautiful 30 x 60 meter indoor arena. Sherrye judged, along side Jan Boogaerts of Belgian, four days of quarter horse and all breed classes. The largest classes were the Western Pleasure classes with Reining coming in a close second. Classes had 1-13 entries presented in an acceptable, up to date manner. Sherrye was pleased to judge and award the winner of the Grand Champion Halter gelding class as the winner of the Novice Amateur Reining class as well. The Reserve Champion Halter Stallion was also awarded first place in Trail, Western Riding, Hunter Hack and Amateur Cutting. The importance of the All-A round SQHA horse was very obvious as many of the horses entered multiple events. These entries were numerous and showed the true versatility of the Quarter Horse. During the show Sherrye was asked to participate in the awards presentation of the AQHA High Point International Swedish Exhibitors and their horses. It was an honor for her to be a part of this special presentation. She was asked questions during brakes at times on showing, judging and care of the American Quarter Horse. The most frequently asked question concerned the quality and care of the horse being exhibited at the show. It was pleasing to see that the quality and presentation of the horses and cows was of the utmost importance to the SQHA owners, exhibitors and the spectators. At times the stands were full with standing room only and applause was given for every awards presentation. Sherrye was able to meet Tommie Eriksson, the SQHA President. Their disc ussion concerned the state of the SQHA and the horses that were shown. Show management, stewards and exhibitors were outstanding to work with. The show ran on time and was very exciting to judge.
